Other factors to help your website SEO

Although content is extremely important for your SEO, there are other things to consider that will improve your page rank; things like having a privacy policy, incoming links, (known as back links), internal links, (links between content on your website), testimonials, setting alt attributes of image tags, meta tags, title tags and actual page titles can all improve the SEO of your site.

Probably the most important of these known SEO drivers is the quantity and quality of the backlinks to your website. What do we mean by quality backlinks? Well, consider a backlink from a site that has very little original content and let’s say only talks about something like advertising on search engines. A problem with that sort of site and the backlinks from it might be that the search engines could consider that particular site of low interest due to the distinct lack of original content and therefore the target sites of any links out could also be considered poor quality by the search engines.

Now consider the top ranking social networking sites. The search engines would consider these to be very high quality and therefore give a higher score to any sites they link to.

So, the lesson here is to actively encourage as many high quality backlinks as possible. The downside is that this will take time, so be patient.
